Kung Fu, Witches, and The Harvested

I am excited as a barrio kid opening an impossible gift Santa brought because they have been extra good!

Where to start? Let's got top of the list.

The Harvested Novel
I got my editing feedback for The Harvested: A Novel. The fact that I sent it to the editor was a real miracle. Like for reals. Though, I need to grow a pair of balls of steel to start incorporating the feedback, after I turn in final grades (yes, I do have a full-time job as a college professor), I'm excited to get 'er done!

New on Kindle Vella
I've decided to go with the masses, and my heart. I've been wanting to work on this storyline for a while now, so I have started serializing La Bruja in the Orchard in Kindle Vella. That story hit hard with the audience, so like an idiot, instead of continuing it when I first wrote it, I started a bunch of other projects. I have a lot to learn, but think of these as episodes--5,000 words max--that come out as often as the author wants. For me, it's going to be once a week on Sundays for La Bruja in the Orchard. I am not sure how many I will put out, but probably 40+.

La Bruja in the Orchard Description:
Five-year-old Mona knows something is wrong when her older brother Pancho doesn't come home one night. Her evil sister, Christi, is to blame because Pancho is always defending her. Mona only knows he is in trouble with the police. Now that he is gone, Christi is brutal, constantly terrorizing Mona. One afternoon, her parents go on an overnight trip, leaving Christi in charge. La Bruja, who lives in the orchard and has been haunting Mona for some time, schemes to take Mona, forever. Read more here: https://bit.ly/LaBrujaSeries

I am also co-writing another story, Nail Shop Warriors, with Hector Cruz, a bonafide sci-fi writer AND Kung Fu practitioner. We co-wrote a story a while back, and I figured, why not serialize it?

Nail Shop Warriors Description:
Fu Huao, head nun of the Order of Light, keeps butting heads with novice Lisa Uyen. But, when their nail shop is attacked by two Yakuzza, Fu and Lisa must team up and investigate a new supernatural threat. Will they be able to set their difference aside? Or will Lisa be cast out of the order, once and for all? Check back every Saturday for exciting episodes! Read more here: bit.ly/NailShopWarriors

I hope you Like (literally like it in the platform, Amazon is trying to fuse reading with social media behavior) each episode and keep reading and maybe, give one of these stories a crown or two. I'm not joking. You can literally crown the stories!

Crown my work! Crown it!

MARIA J. ESTRADA is an English college professor of Composition, Literature, and her favorite, Creative Writing. She grew up in the desert outside of Yuma, Arizona in the real Barrio de Los Locos, a barrio comprised of new Mexican immigrants and first-generation Chicanos. Drawing from this setting and experiences, she writes like a loca every minute she can—all while magically balancing her work and family obligations. She lives in Chicago’s south side with her wonderfully supportive husband, two remarkable children, and a menagerie of animals.
